Local builder donated Christmas dinners to frontline healthcare workers, youth in need

GUELPH — Guelph home builder Terra View Homes, in partnership with The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, provided a traditional holiday dinner for frontline healthcare workers at Guelph General Hospital for the fifth consecutive year this Christmas.

Terra View also provided holiday meals to local youth residing at Wyndham House’s three supportive housing residences for the second year in a row.

“The job of local healthcare workers doesn’t stop once the holidays arrive,” officials state in a press release.

“While many will be at home celebrating the holidays with their families and friends this year, frontline workers at Guelph General Hospital will spend their holidays putting others first, providing high-quality care and emergency services to the 200,000+ residents of Guelph and Wellington County.”

Terra View’s donation will provide 252 meals to staff. This number has been matched by The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, allowing over 450 meals to be served over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

“This contribution from Terra View Homes reminds us all that the dedicated team at GGH works around the clock to provide care to our community, and that includes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” said Julie Byczynski, CEO of The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital.

“Partnering with Terra View to provide a special holiday meal for staff is one example of what makes Guelph so amazing. Together, we are making a healthier community for everyone.”

On Dec. 25, the Terra View team spent time delivering holiday meals to three Wyndham House locations.

Offering housing programs and services for youth experiencing homelessness or those at-risk in Guelph, Wyndham House provides young people aged 16 to 25 with the support and services needed to overcome challenging times and difficult problems in their lives.

Recently, there has been a surge of intakes at the emergency shelter, making Wyndham House an important destination for holiday donations this year, officials say.

“At Terra View Homes we believe that it is our duty to be a meaningful contributor to the community we live, work and play in,” said, Terra View Homes founder and CEO Andrew Lambden.

“The holiday season presents an impactful opportunity to show those in our community that we care. Our hope is that this sentiment is felt by all and that these meals bring even a small moment of joy to members of our community this Christmas.”

With a longstanding history of supporting local initiatives and organizations within the Guelph community, Terra View Homes is honoured to be supporting Guelph General Hospital and Wyndham House this holiday season, company officials state.

“Without the life-saving care of our Hospital staff and the critical services being offered by Wyndham House to local youth – we would deeply feel the impact, as individuals, as friends, as family members and as a community – especially at this time of year,” says Lambden.
