Liberal official says Arnott opposed local investment, jobs

The president of the Wellington Halton Hills Provincial Liberal Riding Association is accusing riding MPP Ted Arnott of abandoning local business by voting against a South West Ontario Development Fund.

Murray Gold said that fund would “create thousands of local jobs it would create in our communities.

“This is a shocking example of how MPP Arnott and the [Tim] Hudak PCs putting their extreme right wing ideology ahead of helping small businesses create jobs and attract new investment to Wellington County” said Gold.

This fund will help companies across southwestern Ontario expand their workforce, buy state-of-the-art equipment, and help them compete and win in the new global economy.

Despite PC opposition, the fund passed second reading  and now goes to committee for further study.

Gold said in a press release the Ontario Liberals are the only party with a plan to eliminate the deficit, grow the economy and create jobs. He added Hudak’s party see the global recession as a chance to push its “extreme conservative ideology – tearing down rather than helping build a stronger Ontario.

The press release added “The Horwath NDP have been silent on eliminating the deficit and creating jobs. They are quick to criticize new ideas but have no suggestions of their own.”

Gold concluded, “These are serious times and we need programs like the highly successful South West Development Fund; not the kind of inaction we’ve seen from the Hudak PCs that will put our health care, our schools and our economy at risk.”
