‘Solemn’ trip

Dear Editor:

RE: Never forget, May 30.

“I will never forget.” On May 24 I stood on Juno Beach. Our tour guide walked us down the solemn path.

We were two coach loads of Canadians arriving in France by cruise ship. How different our journey had been from those in 1944.

Touring the Juno Beach Centre, exhibits and films was enlightening. My late husband was a history buff, who talked extensively about the Second World War and D-Day. I learned so much more by being there.

When I planted my Canadian flag, and small pieces of Bill’s old travel hat, I vowed to never forget.

Thank you, Allan Bacon, and all other veterans.

Barbara McCaw,
