Do you know what your children are doing on-line? Are they safe?

On April 28 at 7pm, John Black Public School Parent Council is presenting two guest speakers to address the very important issue of internet safety for children.

The presentation is for any parent interested in attending and will be at John Black Public School, in Fergus.

Doors will open at 6:30pm with refreshments.

Admission is free and childcare is available at the school.

Police Constable Marylou Schwindt will use her knowledge and experience to educate attendees on sexting and the charges and consequences of sending inappropriate content, the impacts of cyerbullying and sexting, the role of the police in investigations and the challenges and limitations the police face.

Angi Roberts, a social media expert will address the different online networks children hang out on, help attendees understand how they work, why they’re “the place to be”, help recognize what kids are trying to achieve, and how social networks help them do it.

This will help parents understand these different communities, recognize behavior, identify with children’s online spaces and better prepare themselves to educate their children about safety and assist them in taking control of their online identity.

For further information please e-mail sc.johnblack@ugdsb.on.ca or call the school at 519-843-2665.
