Illegal weapon

On Feb. 23 at 4:55pm, Wellington County OPP officers were on foot patrol on Main Street North here when they observed two males carrying backpacks and acting what they deemed to be “somewhat suspicious.”

Police spoke to the males, who they recognized, and noticed one male had a heavy object in his pocket. The officers asked the male what it was and he surrendered a butterfly type knife that is a prohibited weapon and illegal to possess.

Andrew Panneton, 24, of Mount Forest, was charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon. He is to appear in Guelph court on April 5.
