WELLINGTON COUNTY – North Wellington Health Care (NWHC) will continue to redirect obstetrical services, the hospital corporation announced on Aug. 30.

NWHC’s Palmerston and District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital will continue redirecting obstetrical (OB) services until further notice, states a press release.

NWHC hospitals have been on OB redirect since June 6.

Originally NWHC announced the redirect order would continue to Sept. 1, with the potential for an extension to Sept. 6 after the Labour Day weekend.

“This change in service is necessary as we continue to deal with health human resource shortages,” states NWHC president and CEO Angela Stanley.

“Any OB patient should check with their physician to determine the best care plan.

“We have worked closely with our neighbouring hospitals and midwifery groups to notify them of the potential for increased volumes.”
