Hospice Wellington offering free tax and advanced care planning sessions

GUELPH –  Hospice Wellington is sharing free resources to the community with Lynn Whetham, a financial writer, educator, and speaker.

Income tax reduction and estate tax elimination

– in-person Nov. 17 at 10C on Carden Street in Guelph from 1:45 to 3pm; and

– virtually on Nov. 23 at the same address from 10:15 to 11:30am.

Attendees will learn how:

– to minimize or even eliminate taxes on an estate;

– to change estate plans during COVID-19;

– to avoid double taxation on “red” retirement accounts;

– to bypass paying upfront capital gains taxes when selling investments;

– to convert assets into income and leave a lasting legacy; and

– how government can help to save taxes and leave more to charity.

Advance Care Planning

– virtually on Nov. 30 from 10:15 to 11:30am.

 To be held over Zoom, the session will share the importance of choosing a power of attorney for personal care at any age, and will have a gentle and light approach to talking about quality of life.
