Hospice Wellington hosts 1980s-themed fundraiser

GUELPH – Retro Royale is an event that will raise money for Hospice Wellington’s programs and services, but it will also celebrate a milestone anniversary, and it’s no coincidence that the event is 1980s-themed.

Hospice Wellington has been around since 1980, and the event marks its 45th anniversary of providing end-of-life support in Guelph and Wellington County.

The Retro Royale, presented by Andra Arnold and Associates, will take place Feb. 13 at the Delta Hotel, 50 Stone Rd. W., and includes a live auction, ’80s-inspired food stations, music, social media photo stations, retro candy, and more.

“Guests are encouraged to get into the ’80s theme by dressing in retro-wear or ’80s-inspired costumes,” states the event listing on Hospice Wellington’s website.

“There will be prizes for individuals and tables for most spirited, best costumes, and other fun moments.”

Retro Royale master of ceremonies and auctioneer Chuck Dukas is returning to host this year’s event.

Dukas, who calls Los Angeles home, is best known as the announcer and audience warm-up host of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, and he has also appeared as a warm-up performer on shows like Dancing with the Stars, the Voice and the Masked Singer.

Doors open at 6pm and the event runs until approximately 9:30pm, but guests will have the opportunity to extend their retro experience with an exclusive one-hour after-event dance party, hosted by Hospice Wellington’s event planner.

There is a separate $30 ticket price for the after party, but you must have a Retro Royale ticket to attend.
