The province is increasing funding to Hospice Wellington.
It will provide Hospice Wellington with additional funding of $320,000 annually to strengthen its nursing and personal support services for patients.
The spending will help Hospice continue to offer care and service in the area to meet the needs of patients and families living with the challenges of a life-threatening illness.
The money will ensure that patients who cannot be cared for at home can live their final days in dignity and comfort.
Hospice Wellington executive director Rosslyn Bentley said, “After a year open as a combined community and residential organization, we know we have made an outstanding impact locally to alleviate pressure on hospital beds and on caregivers at home by offering a high quality choice for end of life care.”
– A residential hospice is a home-like environment normally containing 10 beds or fewer, where people receive essential end-of-life care free of charge. Hospices offer a range of services to people who cannot be cared for at home.
– Hospice Wellington is one of 24 non-profit residential hospices in the province that will be receiving an increase to annual funding.
