Horticultural Society holds flower show

The Harriston and District Horticultural Society’s spring flower show was a success again this year, featuring 178 entries.

Mary Cuculich received the Rhoda Cameron Award for the best design in the show.

Mary Anne Connell was recognized for most points in design.

Accumulating the most points in potted plants was Rose Van Sickle.

Alice Douglas entered the best potted plant in the show.

Best tulip was shown by Margaret Weber, who also entered the best spring flower.

Anna Campbell showed the best African Violet.

The best daffodil prize went to Dorelene Anderson.

Guest speaker at the meeting was Nancy Osborne of Harriston, who spoke on creating bird houses and feeders from gourds.

The 12th annual Garden Festival is set for June 1 at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre pavillion.

Lunch and a social time was enjoyed following the meeting.
