Puslinch councillors are extremely pleased with the completion of the long-awaited environmental assessment on the Highway 6 realignment near Morriston.

“It’s a monumental step,” councillor Susan Fielding said at council’s first February meeting.

Passed on Jan. 22, the environmental assessment was a major hurdle in the township’s decades-long fight to proceed with Highway 6 improvements. The upgrades are now solely the responsibility of the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).

Fielding said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott should be thanked for his continued support and lobbying on the township’s behalf.

Mayor Brad Whitcombe and councillor Dick Visser said Fielding also deserves a lot of credit. “No one, in the last 20 years, has worked as hard as you on this,” Visser told Fielding.
