Heritage group would like information on township website

A proposal to bring more of Puslinch’s past online has met with local support from council.

On Dec. 19, councillors briefly reviewed a report from Deputy Clerk Heather Krouskie on behalf of the Puslinch Heritage Committee.

Krouskie told council members, the Puslinch Heritage committee met on Dec. 4 to discuss the possibility of having an internet presence versus a publication.

She said committee members decided to have the recognized heritage sites identified on the web. The committee will approach owners of the properties that have been recognized/plaqued for permission to showcase the architectural and historical features on the township website. The committee would select six properties to showcase in 2013 and build the online inventory each year. As such, the heritage committee asked that the township include the Puslinch Heritage Committee to be part of the new township website to feature sites of architectural and historical interest.

Mayor Dennis Lever added “I think it is an excellent idea and would like to see that link there to promote our heritage.”
