Harriston TOPS chapter celebrating 25th anniversary with open house

HARRISTON – The Harriston chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an open house on May 29.

TOPS was born around a kitchen table in 1948 when Esther S. Manz and three friends gathered in Milwaukee hoping to support each other to slimmer figures and better health, notes a press release from the local arm of the organization.

In May 1998 six ladies from Harriston and Minto Township met to form a chapter in Harriston with a mission to support members as they take off, and keep off, pounds sensibly.

“Twenty five years later the chapter is still going strong and welcoming new members,” officials note.

TOPS #ON 4913 Harriston is inviting all to attend its open house on May 29 at 7pm at the Harriston United Church.
