Guelph students compete in Ontario Provincial Martial Arts Championships

GUELPH – Students from Guelph Family Martial Arts returned from the Ontario Provincial Martial Arts Championships, an event that draws top athletes throughout North America and one of the most competitive and longest running events in the country. The team was coached by lifetime local residents and world champions Nathan and Sophie Skoufis. Results were: Grace Bridges brought home two gold medals in sparring; Chris Hordatt got silver kata, silver sparring and silver weapons; Deepali Rajpal and Emry Verdecchia were finalists in sparring; Kerri Klassen got silver in sparring and David Opiela, Meghan McMurty, Kent Watson, Mike Barker and Vanya Chadha got gold sparring. Overall, the team brought home seven gold and 4 silver medals.
