GUELPH – Police and fire officials here are investigating a suspicious fire in a vacant house last week.

At about 8:15am on Dec. 14, a witness called 911 to report thick smoke coming from a house on Gordon Street south of Arkell Road.

“The house is vacant and is located on property scheduled for redevelopment,” Guelph Police state. “No one was located on site and no injuries were reported.”

Police say firefighters located evidence inside that suggests “unknown parties had been in the house.”

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate have not been determined. Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Cole Ridsdale at 519-824-1212 ext. 7546 or cridsdale@guelphpolice.ca or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
