Guelph man strikes woman with bowling ball: police

GUELPH – A Guelph man faces several charges after a woman was struck in the face with a bowling ball last Sunday afternoon.

Just before 3pm on March 3, several 911 calls were received about a disturbance near Paisley Street and Dublin Street North in Guelph.

“Witnesses reported a female outside screaming with blood on her face,” police stated in a press release.

“Officers located the female, who reported being assaulted by a male known to her. Investigation revealed she was hit in the face with a bowling ball. The male was located a short distance away and arrested.”

Police say the man was violating court conditions not to have contact with the victim.

A 29-year-old Guelph man was charged with assault with a weapon, failing to attend court and several counts of breaching probation and release orders. He was held for a bail hearing on Monday.
