Guelph man faces drug, probation charges after stop

GUELPH – On March 24 at about 1:30am, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on the Hanlon Expressway near College Avenue.

Police say officers stopped a grey passenger vehicle and asked a passenger to identify themselves regarding a an alleged driving violation.

“The passenger was later arrested after providing a false name to police,” states an OPP press release. “They were also found to be in possession of a substance suspected to be cocaine.”

Matt James Hansen, 25, of Guelph was charged with obstructing a peace officer, possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine), failing to comply with a probation order (three counts) and failing to properly wear a seatbelt. He is to appear in Guelph court on April 27.
