Groves Chief of Staff Dr. Rick Gergovich and Manager of Diagnostic Imaging Heather Gergovich will be giving a presentation about the values of the new CT Scanner the hospital is going to get.

Every year, more than 800 Grove’s patients are sent out of the community to get a CT scan. A waiting list delay for non-emergency CT scans can be as long as eight weeks.

Purchasing a CT scanner will enhance timely diagnosis and lessen anxiety for Grove’s patients who have to endure long waiting and travel times.

To purchase and install that state-of-the-art CT scanner and housing unit will require an investment of $3-million. The Ministry of Health does not fund the purchase of the machine. As a result, it is up to the hospital and the community to raise the necessary funds to obtain that vital equipment.

The public presentation will explain how the CT scanner will improve healthcare close to home. The presentation is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Alma. It takes place on June 26 at 7:30pm at the Alma community centre.
