Group issues insurance alert for phony operators
The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario are warning consumers that some unregistered operators are soliciting in the province.
The group stated the firms are using the telephone numbers 1-888-857-6699, 613-701-3097 and 226-799-9521 and they are not licensed to conduct automobile insurance business in Ontario:
- Discount Auto Insurance Brokers;
- United Insurance Brokers; and
- Citizen Group.
The RIBO stated in a press release on April 19 perpetrators have been advertising and distributing flyers stating “Save more than 50% off auto insurance.”
Anyone who may have information on the above groups or who has purchased auto insurance from those firms should exercise caution and is asked to contact Tim Goff at RIBO immediately at 416-365-1900/1-800-265-3097 or tim@ribo.com.
