This year marks the 40th anniversary of the scenic Radial Line Trail, which is the major hiking trail of the Guelph Hiking Trail Club.

The trail runs from Guelph to Limehouse, where it connects with the well-known Bruce Trail.

The trail follows the route of the abandoned Toronto to Guelph electric railway bed, which was in use until the 1930s.

A series of hikes is being held to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the trail.

Hikes will run on the last Sunday of every month from now until the end of September. They will be open to the public, 1.5 to 2 hours in length, start at 2pm, and proceed at a relaxed pace.

For more details, go to www.guelphhiking.com or phone 519-836-9147.

The last hike on Sept. 25 will end with a barbecue, a large cake to share, and congratulations by local mayors and MPPs.
