Goldie officially appointed as Centre Wellington CAO

It’s official.

On Oct. 25 Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj and members of council announced they have appointed Andy Goldie as chief administrative officer for the township, effective immediately.

“It has been an open and transparent process selecting a new CAO for our community and we are very pleased that Andy Goldie has accepted this challenge with enthusiasm and commitment,” Ross-Zuj said in a press release. “He brings a wealth of experience and a proven record of success. We look forward to charting our future direction with Andy as our chief administrative officer.”

She added Goldie is an experienced municipal administrator with over 16 years at the management level with the City of Guelph and the Township of Centre Wellington, most recently as the acting CAO and director of parks and recreation with Centre Wellington. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and also of the public administration program at the University of Western Ontario.

Ross-Zuj said Goldie’s background includes administration, operations, strategic planning, community building, service delivery to communities with fiscal sustainability.

Ross-Zuj added Goldie “leads by example” and looks forward to addressing organizational and fiscal challenges facing the township over the next several years.

Goldie was appointed as acting CAO earlier this year following the sudden departure of Michael Wood in mid-July.

The township launched a competition to fill the position on a permanent basis starting in mid-September. Manager of human resources Rick Hulley said there was considerable interest in the position, with 50 to 60 applications received. Of those, five received an interview, he said.
