Golden Helmets donate to charity

County OPP motorcycle riders Constables Tim Gillingham and Dave Gray donated $1000 to the Children’s Foundation of Guelph-Wellington on Dec. 2 at 3pm.

The officers are members of the OPP Golden Helmet precision motorcycle team that toured extensively in 2009 throughout the province to help celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the OPP. The team consists of 20 members selected from OPP offices throughout the province and they put on motorcycle demonstrations and safety seminars for community groups or charity foundations. During that time, the team raises money for various children’s charities with the sale of T-shirts and hats.

The money they raise is divided amongst the team members to donate to various charities within the area of their home work location. The money is usually directed to various charities to go towards underprivileged children, to ensure they will have presents at Christmas.

The two local members of the team, Gillingham and Gray, are stationed and work in the County of Wellington, and have chosen this year to donate their share to the Children’s Foundation of Guelph-Wellington.
