The Township of Wellington North will received $5,085 through the Ontario government’s Communities in Action Fund (CIAF).

The announcement was made by Perth-Wellington MPP John Wilkinson, on behalf of Minister of Health Promotion Margarett Best.

The CIAF provides cash to not-for-profit organizations at local and provincial levels to improve opportunities for community sport and physical activity.

“I am delighted that the Township of Wellington North has received this provincial grant,” said Wilkinson.  “People are more active, and thus healthier, when they can participate in great programs close to home.”

Mayor Mike Broomhead said, “This is another good example of how the province is working together with the local municipalities to help promote and achieve healthy active living. On behalf of members of council I would like to thank the provincial government for their support.”

Best stated the provincial government “is committed to working at the community level to improve rates of physical activity. Programs funded through the Communities in Action Fund are important in our efforts to provide all Ontario families with a chance to participate in sport and recreation.”

“Working together, we make things better,” stated Wilkinson. The township is going to use the money to support its recreation programs.
