Free workshops from East Wellington health team running again in March

ERIN – The East Wellington Family Health Team has released its schedule of free workshops for March. The following activities and events are among the upcoming offerings:

Walk-fit at the Erin Indoor Recreation Centre: This volunteer-led free indoor walking group continues on Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:45am throughout the month. Participants need only register once per season, and can attend as many or as few sessions as desired.

– Heart Health, March 18 from 4 to 5pm: This workshop, offered virtually and in-person at the Rockwood and Erin clinics, is for anyone interested in learning more about heart healthy eating and lifestyle strategies to help prevent or manage conditions like high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

– Understanding Pre-diabetes, March 20 from 4 to 5pm: Offered virtually and in-person in Rockwood and Erin, this workshop will help participants learn about diabetes risk factors and why pre-diabetes is a concern.

– Rural Care Partner Support Group, March 26 from 1:30 to 3pm: This group, held at the Erin clinic via telemedicine as well as location in Mount Forest, Ayr, and Fergus, is for family and friends of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

– Highs and Lows of Diabetes, March 27 from 10:30 to 11:30am: Offered in-person in Rockwood and Erin as well as online, this workshop looks at type 2 diabetes and management skills for healthy living.

– Feeding your Baby,  Introducing Solid Foods, March 27 from 1:30 to 2:30pm: This online workshop is intended to help parents with babies between two and six months old make the transition to solid food.

All classes require registration, and virtual classes will need a computer, tablet or smart phone.
