Fraud seminar in Erin council chamber Feb. 2

On Jan. 10, councillor Deb Callaghan made councillors aware of a fraud prevention workshop here.

Callaghan said Erin’s Community Oriented Policing committee will host a fraud presentation at the Erin council chambers on Feb. 2 at 7:30pm.

“They will be discussing fraud and the focus will be on seniors.”

The concept behind the workshop is prevention, awareness and protection and the workshop offers an opportunity to learn about today’s top scams and, more importantly, how to avoid becoming a victim. The most frequent scams, targeting home owners and seniors will be detailed to help people identify and avoid them.

Fraud reaches individuals in many ways – over the mail, the phone and the computer.

The workshop will be presented by OPP Constable Mark Cloes. It is being offered through the Erin committee and the Wellington OPP.
