Foundation launches third mini-grant program

The Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) is launching its third mini-grant program with the goal of giving away up to $1,000 to charities working in Centre Wellington.

“Our third round of mini-grants shows that CWCF is growing along with our community,” said chairman Randall Howard.

“It is thanks to hundreds of donors that have given funds to the foundation that we have the capacity to again be giving this money to organizations in our community doing great things.”

The program welcomes applications from local registered non-profits that are building community capacity in one of seven areas of focus.

The grants can be used to support operational or project costs. All applicants must be a registered charity or partner with a charity.

Full application details can be found at cwcfoundation.ca.

Applications are due by April 25 and winners will be announced in June.

“We are so grateful to the Centre Wellington Community Foundation for their support last year,” commented 2013 recipient Naomi Melnick, assistant executive director from the Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington. “Their financial support allowed our ‘Let Kids Play’ program to provide assistance to low income families with the cost of equipment needed for their children to fully and safely participate in recreational activities … The money and exposure have both been great gifts to our organization.”

Centre Wellington Township and CWCF will host an information session for community organizations interested in applying for a mini-grant on April 9 at 9:30am in Veterans Hall at the township offices in Elora.  There will also be a session for organizations requiring a charitable partner for their application to explore how the township could potentially be a co-applicant.
