Two Fergus residents originally charged in April are now facing an additional 80-plus charges in relation to multiple mailbox break-ins in the region earlier this year.
This week police announced that Richard Cutting, 34, and Tracy Dolmage, 35, both of Fergus, have been charged with the following:
– 43 counts of mail theft;
– 14 counts of possession of stolen credit cards;
– 18 counts of identity theft;
– seven counts of possession of stolen identity documents; and
– one count of mischief over $5,000.
The most recent charges are in relation to a rash of break-ins earlier this year at community mailboxes in Huron, South Bruce and Wellington Counties, notably in Centre Wellington, Guelph-Eramosa and Puslinch townships.
Cutting and Dolmage were first charged in connection with super mailbox break-ins on April 22, after police executed a search warrant at a house and garage on St. Patrick Street East in Fergus.
At that time officers seized methamphetamines and a “large quantity of documents, identity documents, and credit cards that did not belong to the residents of the home.”
Cutting and Dolmage were then charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, five counts of mail theft and five counts of mischief under $5,000.
Cutting was also charged two years ago in relation to mail thefts.
In February of 2014, after a string of “super mailbox” break-ins in Centre Wellington and Guelph-Eramosa, Cutting was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest, mischief under $5,000 and breach of undertaking.
