First vice president Jeannita McCarthy and president Rose Ostrander of the Erin Legion branch 442 presented Erin 242 Ross Ferguson Air Cadets with a cheque for $3,166 from last year’s poppy drive on Jan. 14.

Each year the Legion supports cadet programs by donating 20 per cent of the proceeds from their poppy drive to offset their expenses.

The cadets benefit from this donation as it will help fund field trips, multi-unit Sports competition weekends, shooting and biathlon teams and their annual review in June.

Cadets is a national program offered to youths aged 12 to 18 years old.

The program promotes discipline, leadership, citizenship, physical activity and healthy living.

Registration is always open and potential participants are asked to stop by on a Tuesday night at the Erin Legion on Dundas Street for more information.

Lasagna dinner fundraiser

Feb. 8 marks the 242 Ross Ferguson Air Cadet 9th Annual Lasagna Dinner and fundraiser which includes raffle items and a silent auction.

Tickets are available from Brighten Up, Village Fine Foods or on Tuesdays nights at the Legion. The cost is $12/adult in advance ($15 at the door) and $8 for children under 12.
