Councillors here are ready to consider an environmental audit to save energy and the environment.

Councillors recently endorsed the environmental management committee’s recommendation that the town take a leading role in assuring optimum energy usage in all municipally owned facilities by approving in principle an energy audit by Ainsworth.

At a recent committee meeting, Amanda Kusick and Chris Stockwell, of Ainsworth Environmental, explained how their program will target energy conservation measures for all energy-dependent systems within the municipality. Ainsworth will look at all facilities.

The company considers conservation measures in areas such as lighting; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; building automation; central plants (such as chillers and boilers); insulation; and water conservation.
