Elora man charged in three thefts from Fergus LCBO
Man pulled over in Elora after police noticed 'signs of impairment'
ELORA – An Elora man has been charged in connection with a several recent thefts from the LCBO in Fergus.
Wellington County OPP officials say an officer responded to a theft at the store, on Parkside Drive West just of St. David Street North (Highway 6), at about 4pm on Jan. 30.
"The accused concealed a bottle of vodka and left the store without attempting to pay for it," police stated in a Feb. 4 press release.
The same person was involved in thefts from the store on Jan. 16 and 24, police added.
On Feb. 3 at about 11:45pm, an officer "located the accused's vehicle and observed signs of impairment" on Sophia Street in Elora, states the release.
A 37-year-old Elora man was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, driving with more than 80g of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system and three counts of theft under $5,000 (shoplifting).
He is to appear in Guelph court on March 17.
