The township Chamber of Commerce is hosting several all candidates meetings in Elora, Fergus and co-hosting in Belwood for the coming municipal elections.
The event will include the mayoral candidates, municipal council candidates and county council candidates from the Elora wards, then the Fergus area wards, then for the eastern part of the township. The meetings will take place:
– Sept. 21, 7pm at the Elora Legion;
– Sept. 27 at 7:30pm at Belwood Hall, hosted by Belwood Lions; and
– Sept. 29 at 7pm at the Fergus Legion.
The candidates will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and briefly outline their election platform. There will be some standard questions for all of the candidates and questions will be welcome from the audience.
For further information, contact the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce at 519-843-5140. Everyone is invited to come out and meet the candidates and have questions answered.
Further, a representative from the Township of Centre Wellington will be available to confirm residents are on the voters list and to answer questions about the mail-in voting process. The ballots for voting will be mailed on Oct. 1 and they must be returned to the municipal office in Elora on or before election day on Oct. 25.
In the past, there was a ballot box placed at the Fergus Sportsplex, but Clerk Marion Morris said that very few people have used it in the past, and it was labour intensive.
There will be two polling days for seniors’ homes.
The Wellington Advertiser will be posting reports from all candidates meetings on line as well as publishing them in the Newspaper.
