Drug, firearm charges
A Wellington North man faces assault, weapon and other charges - 11 in total - after police executed a search warrant at a rural property here.
On Jan. 3 Wellington County OPP began an investigation on Sideroad 3 East in response to a complaint.
“The investigation led officers to believe a male party was in possession of firearms without the proper licencing,” states an OPP press release.
Police say “further investigation and a search warrant” helped officers seize three firearms, two stolen vehicles and a quantity of suspected marijuana.
John Chantzopouls, 53, of Wellington North, was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, possession of marijuana over 30g, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm and three counts of careless storage of a firearm. He was held for bail.
