Driver rescued from Guelph Lake
Vehicle was partially submerged after flipping onto its roof: OPP
GUELPH/ERAMOSA – Police say a good Samaritan helped rescue the driver of a vehicle that flipped into Guelph Lake on the weekend.
Emergency crews responded to the lake, just off Wellington Road 29, south of Wellington Road 124, on Aug. 2 at about 10:15pm.
Wellington County OPP officials say a vehicle travelling south on Wellington Road 29 lost control and flipped onto its roof into the lake.
The vehicle was partially submerged with the driver trapped inside, police stated in an Aug. 4 press release.
A bystander travelling through the area "managed to cut the seatbelt, remove the driver and escort them back to shore," police stated.
The driver, a 54-year-old from Guelph, was not injured but was charged with making an unsafe manoeuvre (lane or shoulder).
