Patina, a Black Labrador puppy, arrives here on Dec. 6

K9 Helpers Service Dogs is a local non-profit group that trains and places psychiatric service dogs.

K9 Helpers purchased Patina from Guiding Eyes for the Blind in New York, and will train her to work as a psychiatric service dog, starting with a special puppy class being created for her by a local dog training company.

Dogs in the Park is offering spaces in Patina's special puppy class to families in the community and will be donating profits from the class to K9 Helpers.

There will be eight one-hour classes at 2:30pm Sunday afternoons, starting Dec. 14

The cost is $225 per puppy.
