The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 229  has once again placed Canadian flags near the gravesites of veterans in the Elora cemeteries.

That ritual began a few years ago in order to honour all veterans buried there. The flags are placed  prior to Canada Day and  Remembrance Day in November.

Branch president Ashley Woods and members of the poppy committee completed the placement on the morning of June 23 and will remove the flags on July 7.

It is the hope of the committee that family members of any veterans who may have been missed will contact the Legion at 519-846-9611.

That would ensure that all Commonwealth veterans, no matter where they served, will be identified and recognized.
