While Minto will be helping the Harriston Curling Club financially to a maximum of $5,000 for the installation of new heaters on the curling floor, the club will cover operating costs.
That recommendation is conditional upon the club paying the heating costs during the lease agreement. The item came up as part of Minto’s parks and recreation committee minutes, which outlined the curling club’s presentation. The club has asked the town to split the costs of the heaters, which is roughly $10,000.
When asked who would pay operating costs, Recreation Director Dave Stonley said the current agreement could be amended to incorporate heating costs, or a gas meter could be installed to monitor consumption. Council passed the motion with no further discussion.
