Crystal Beach man charged in Puslinch motorcycle theft

PUSLINCH – A Crystal Beach man has been charged after a motorcycle was stolen here earlier this month.

Wellington County OPP officials say police were called on June 6 at about 8am about “a motorcycle being taken for a test-drive and the suspect never returning” to a Puslinch Township home

Police say “the suspect had left another motorcycle at the seller’s property, prior to then stealing the seller’s motorcycle.” 

While investigating the abandoned motorcycle, it was discovered that a tar-like substance, believed to be asphalt, was freshly put over the motorcycle’s VIN ... in the attempt to mask the identity of the previous owner, later to be identified as the suspect.” Wellington County OPP officers, with help from an OPP jurisdiction in northern Ontario, placing the suspect under arrest.

Robert Weaver, 31, of Crystal Beach, was charged with theft of motor vehicle and altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on Aug. 28.
