Credit Valley Conservation community tree planting event is on May 3

Get ready to exercise your green thumb.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is hosting a community tree planting event in Erin on May 3 from 9am to noon at the Erin storm water pond behind Centre 2000.

This event is in partnership with the Town of Erin, the Erin Rotary Club, Erin Trails Group, Transition Erin and Climate Action Group of Erin (CCAGE).

Participants will plant native trees and shrubs to increase forest cover. Trees beautify the landscape, improve air quality and provide habitat for local wildlife.

“At the 2013 tree planting event, 45 participants planted 225 trees and shrubs. Now we need 50 participants to plant 250 trees and shrubs,” said Mike Puddister, CVC director of restoration and stewardship.

“Each tree has measurable benefits for the air we breathe, the water we drink and the land we all share.”

Participants should dress for the weather, and wear long pants and boots if possible. Shovels and gloves are provided but extras would be helpful.
