Councillors here have agreed to $50,000 in upgrades that will increase the overall cost for  the new community hall in Alma to almost $1.38-million.

The original price received by Domm?Construction was $1,329,500 but last week finance director Mike Givens told council the building committee suggested the following extras:

- hardwood floors in the meeting room and hall, at a price of $32,000;

- changing tile flooring to commercial sheet vinyl, $11,500;

- one aluminum floor grate at the rear doors, $1,690; and

- a 12-by-60 foot concrete sidewalk at the pantry and hall door areas, $3,800.

Givens said the changes, which bring the total hall cost to $1,379,490, have been approved by the committee and officials with Greystone Design, the project manager.

Council authorized the upgrades and okayed the total price, plus taxes.
