Council okay with Everton subdivision plan extension
Guelph-Eramosa council is in favour of a three-year extension to plans to create five new residential lots in the hamlet of Everton.
Originally approved by the county in 2008, the application removed five vacant lots west of Wellington Road 49 (Wellington Street) and created five new lots on the north side of Market Street.
Owner Robert Eilers is requesting an extension of the plan of subdivision, which is expected to expire on Oct. 3.
“The owner’s agent has indicated that they are currently working towards registration and anticipate registration to be possible within two years,” township planning consultant Lana Phillips, of MHBC Planning, told council in a report.
The extension request was forwarded to the township, as it is a commenting agency on the application.
Mayor Chris White noted nothing has changed in the application. Councillor Corey Woods suggested a five-year extension would be agreeable, while councillor John Scott recommended a period of four years. White said if the applicant is expecting to move forward within two years, three years would likely suffice.
Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting a three-year extension and directing staff to provide the MHBC report to the county.
