The Arthur Community Oriented Policing service is presenting a program designed to educate parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and caregivers, on the danger signs of the abuse of prescription and illegal drugs.
The COPs, along with the Wellington County OPP, will present the program in conjunction with Arthur Public School and St. John School of Arthur, Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest, Norwell District High School in Palmerston and St. James High School, in Guelph.
Here are some of the questions that will be answered during the program:
– How can I tell if a child, grandchild, niece, or nephew is using drugs?
– How can I recognize the signs of drug usage?
– Are illegal drugs damaging my community?
– Should I worry about who my kids hang around with?
– Why is my child suddenly acting so differently?
– My child is on drugs – now what?
For those who answered yes to even one of those should set aside Nov. 29 at 7pm.
The seminar will be held at the Arthur Public School at 156 Conestoga Street in Arthur.
The presenters for the event will be OPP Kirk MacDonald and Homewood Community Addicitions services worker Brenda Atkin.
The presentation will be followed by an open question and answer period.
While the presentation may be focused on educating parents and caregivers, all ages are welcome.
