Having grown up in Wellington County, it’s always nice to see buildings I remember from my childhood being cared for and updated. The latest is the Fergus Marketplace.

I can remember going to the market and buying more trinkets than any person ever needed. Now I love it when I go to the Goofie Newfie Bar and Grill or Fraberts Fresh Foods and see how the marketplace has changed and evolved.

The next evolution will come from a CIP grant for the façade improvement on the Grand River side of the building. Council recently approved the $10,000 loan and $10,000 grant to refresh the red wall to make it look like board and batten.

In my opinion this is a great use of a CIP grant. The market place is a Fergus icon that deserves to be well maintained and appreciated.
