Conn accident claims second fatality

A head-on collision on Aug. 27 near here has claimed a second life.

Christopher Cary, 32, of Wellington North, succumbed to injuries sustained in the motor vehicle collision.

The accident, according to Wellington County OPP, happened at approximately 9:48am on Wellington Road 14 just south of Highway 89 in the township.

Officers responded along with Guelph-Wellington and Grey County emergency medical services (EMS) as well as firefighters from the Mount Forest station.

The investigation involved a north bound 2012 Mazda 3 which collided head-on with a south bound 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe on Wellington Road 14.

Cary was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest and subsequently transported to Hamilton General Hospital by land ambulance, where he later died.

A female passenger that was in the second vehicle - Virginia Wiley, 61, of Meaford - was transported to Louise Marshall Hospital by land ambulance and was later transported by air ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

OPP reported there was dense fog in the area at the time of the collision.
