Community News places in top three for best editorial, best original ad idea

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The North Wellington Community News finished in the top three in two Premier Award categories in the recent Ontario Community Newspapers Association Better Newspapers Competition.

The Community News placed:

– second for best editorial (circulation over 10,000) for an editorial titled Imported outrage an online hazard by reporter Patrick Raftis; and

– third for best original ad idea (100.1 The Ranch ad by Alicia Roza).

The North Wellington Community News is a sister publication to the Wellington Advertiser, which placed first in the General Excellence category (circulation between 22,500 and 44,999) for the third consecutive year.

The Advertiser also placed in the top three in six Premier Award categories, including first place for best editorial (circulation over 10,000) for an editorial titled Deafening silence by editor Chris Daponte

The BNC winners are usually announced at an annual gala, but it was cancelled for the third year in a row due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
