Community improvement plan meeting July 21

Centre Wellington is holding a public meeting on July 21 to present a proposed  Community Improvement Plan for the township.

The purpose of the meeting is to receive public input prior to making a decision.

The meeting is on July 21 at 7pm, in the Council Chambers, 1 MacDonald Square, Elora.

The intent of the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is to broadly and strategically address the physical, aesthetic, environmental, and economic development needs in key downtowns, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use areas within the urban centres of Fergus and Elora-Salem.

As well, the proposed CIP will enable grants, loans and other incentives to landowners and tenants in order to facilitate certain forms of improvement, which may include: environmental investigation, remediation, redevelopment, and intensification of brownfield and other potential redevelopment sites; structural improvements to buildings and building rehabilitation; and improvement/restoration of building facades.

Any person or public body is entitled to attend the public meeting and make written or oral submissions in support of or in opposition to the proposed CIP.

For more information or to get a copy of the proposed Community Improvement Plan, it is now available for public viewing at the Township of Centre Wellington municipal office or by calling Chantalle Pellizzari, planning co-ordinator at 519-846-9691 ext. 241.
