Club launches penny drive

A local service club is hoping residents will give up the lion’s share of pennies they may have around the house.

Arthur Lions Club member Bill Ernikoglou, of Erni’s Place Restaurant, said the club is looking to raise $500 from the penny drive. The final amount will go to equipment purchase projects at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus.

“Any pennies you’ve got lying around just bring them,” he said of businesses where pennies can be dropped off.

The businesses include Erni’s Place, Bargain Barns, Village Variety, Arthur Home Hardware and Walsh’s IDA.

Residents can take their pennies to the businesses and drop them in jars provided and clearly marked by the Lions Club.

“We can also pick up your pennies,” Ernikoglou added.

For pick up residents can call Erni’s at 519-848-3541 and ask for Bill or leave a message.
