Clerks: nomination deadline approaching
Municipal clerks in the County of Wellington are reminding interested candidates that nomination forms must be filed soon for this fall’s municipal election.
In a joint press release issued last week, clerks from the county’s member municipalities stressed papers must be filed at the appropriate municipal office - in person or through an agent - before 2pm on July 27.
The 2018 municipal election will take place on Oct. 22 for local councils and school boards.
July 27 is the deadline to file the required nomination forms for the offices of mayor, local councillor, county councillor and school board trustee.
Due to recent changes to the Municipal Elections Act, the nomination period has changed and the deadline to file nominations has been moved up to July 27th.
