Chong to represent Tories in next federal election

Glenna Smith, candidate nomination committee chair for the Wellington–Halton Hills Conservative Electoral District Association (EDA), has announced Michael Chong has been acclaimed as the Conservative Party candidate for the next federal general election.

The nomination in the electoral district for the Conservative Party closed on April 24 at 5pm.

Local party members were notified by the Conservative Party of Canada and, as expected, no one came forward to challenge Chong for the nomination, party officials state.

The local candidate committee consisted of Smith, Laurie Norrie and Murray Brown.

“Congratulations to Michael Chong. We are so proud to continue to have him represent us,” said Smith. “It is great News for the members of the Wellington-Halton Hills EDA and all residents of the riding.”

She added, “I would like to thank the members of the nomination committee.”

Chong said, “I appreciate the support of local Conservatives and look forward to being the Conservative candidate in the next election. I will continue to work hard for all the people of Wellington County and Halton Hills, and look forward to re-earning their support in the next election.”
