CENTRE WELLINGTON – After raising over $20,000 for local charities since its pandemic launch in 2020, CW Men Who Care is back with a fresh approach to community giving.
The group will kick off 2025 with its first in-person gathering on Feb. 21 at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Wellington office in the Skyline Community Centre on Tower Street in Fergus.
The 2025 series introduces some twists to the traditional giving format.
While maintaining its signature approach of combining $100 donations for maximum impact, the group is expanding its reach to include smaller non-profits that may not have charitable status and are making a difference in Centre Wellington.
Men are invited to donate what they can (the suggested gift is $100 and gifts of all sizes are welcome) that will be put directly toward the CW Men Who Care fund at the CW Foundation.
This event will feature a brief panel talk with leaders from the community to help the group understand community needs. After some brief thoughts there will be lots of time for socializing over a beer, pop or tea.
Four quarterly events are planned for 2025, including a special family-focused gathering in the fall.
“We want to show our kids what community giving looks like,” stated Chris Jess, another organizer.
“These events are about building connections between men while making a difference – and having some fun along the way.”
The group directs 75% of donations to selected organizations while building long-term community support through the “CW Men Who Care Fund” at the Centre Wellington Community Foundation.
Men interested in joining are invited to attend the Feb. 21 event at Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Wellington at 7pm. For more information visit CWMenWhoCare.ca.
