FERGUS – Castlemore Dental hosted its “Doing Positive in My Backyard” free dental care clinic in Fergus May 24 to 25.
Led by Dr. Raj Khanuja, recipient of the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship, the event delivered $14,000 worth of complimentary dental treatment to 24 individuals, officials say.
Patients included Ukrainian families, recent immigrants and community members without insurance, those between jobs, or struggling with unemployment.
The initiative brought together a dedicated team of volunteers: Jesmey, Chaitali, Shilpa, Dr. Maddie, and Kajal, who devoted their skills and time to make the day a success.
“We didn’t just restore teeth today – we restored confidence, hope, and dignity,” said Khanuja.
The Fergus clinic was the second in a series of 10 free dental days organized by Castlemore Dental under the banner of Doing Positive in My Backyard.
“This local event is part of a larger vision: the launch of National Dental Care Day (NDCD) on Oct 10, 2025, a nationwide initiative encouraging dental clinics across Canada to offer one free day of care each year – no questions asked,” Khanuja stated in a press release.
